2026 Vollkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

2026 Volkswagen
Atlas Cross Sport

As the somewhat sportier, two-row version of the popular Atlas crossover, the Atlas Cross Sport shows off a coupe-like roofline and a straightforward, big-screen cockpit. Convenience steps up for 2026 as the SE with Technology and higher trims add an auto-dimming HomeLink mirror for built-in garage and smart-home controls. Meanwhile, the Tennessee-built Atlas Cross Sport focuses on quiet highway manners and adult-sized space for five with undeniable cargo room. The 2026 Atlas Cross Sport is backed by Volkswagen’s four-year or 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, two years or 20,000 miles of Carefree Coverage for scheduled standard services, and three years or 36,000 miles of 24-hour roadside assistance.

Trims and Powertrain

With five trims – the SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line – the Atlas Cross Sport has something for every interested buyer. VW’s proven EA888 engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, makes 269 horsepower under the Atlas Cross Sport’s hood. The SE and SE with Technology have standard front-wheel drive (FWD), while 4MOTION all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional (the higher trims get standard AWD). Both drivetrains use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Most Atlas Cross Sport trims can tow up to 5,000 pounds when they are equipped properly. Cargo space starts at 40.3 cubic feet behind the back row and expands to 77.6 cubic feet when the rear seats are unoccupied and folded down. With FWD, the EPA-estimated fuel economy is 20 mpg in city driving and 27 mpg on the open road. AWD changes the highway rating to 26 mpg.

Standard Features

Even as the most affordable Atlas Cross Sport, the SE brings a high level of comfort. Its amenities include heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, V-Tex leatherette upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, and the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro instrument display. Everyday convenience is covered with heated power side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, four fast-charging USB ports, wireless device charging, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SE with Technology adds a hands-free liftgate, remote start, illuminated front and rear lightbars and logos, a trailer hitch, an auto-dimming mirror with integrated HomeLink controls, a second-row 115-volt AC outlet, and 20-inch wheels. A panoramic sunroof is optional.

Comfort and interior ambience expand in the SEL as the panoramic sunroof becomes standard along with leather seating surfaces, a driver’s memory system, an eight-way power front passenger seat, a head-up display, heated second-row outboard seats, ambient cabin lighting, and heated headlight washers. The SEL R-Line Black adds a darker style to the SEL with unique exterior and interior accents, and 20-inch black-finish alloy wheels. The SEL Premium R-Line brings in more luxurious touches while remaining faithful to affordable Volkswagen pricing with massaging front seats, perforated Vienna leather upholstery, power-folding heated side mirrors, exclusive R-Line exterior detailing, and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Advanced Safety Technology

IQ.Drive comes standard across the range, bundling forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking (including pedestrian detection), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, Travel Assist (semi-autonomous hands-on driving support), adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist (the vehicle will gradually stop if the driver is unresponsive), exit warning, and automatic high beams. The SE with Technology and above have front and rear parking sensors, while the SEL and above have a head-up display. The SEL Premium R-Line also has a surround-view monitor. Underlying safety equipment for all Atlas Cross Sport trims includes multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, and a backup camera.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The cockpit’s centerpiece is an advanced 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system that integrates Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Navigation is added at the SEL level. All trims are set up with Wi-Fi hotspot capability as well as access to myVW connected services. The default audio system (found on most trims) has six speakers, while SEL Premium R-Line buyers are rewarded with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon upgrade.
