The 2025 ID.4 is packaged in five trim levels, with two different electric powertrains. The Pro and Pro S get a 210-kW rear-wheel-drive system that utilizes a single-speed automatic transmission and a high-voltage battery to make 282 horsepower (with a towing capacity of up to 2,200 pounds with trailer brakes). The AWD Pro, AWD Pro S, and AWD Pro S Plus are equipped with a 250-kW all-wheel drive propulsion system that uses a single-speed automatic transmission and a higher-capacity battery; it also adds Volkswagen’s Active Control and drive-mode selector. This powertrain is capable of 335 horsepower and can tow up to 2,700 pounds with trailer brakes.
The ID.4 Pro and Pro S achieve an estimated range of 291 miles on a full charge, while AWD-equipped trims have an estimated range of 263 miles. All ’25 ID.4 models support DC fast charging with a peak rate between 175 kW and 200 kW, enabling a charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes at a compatible public station. When you’re charging at home or at an AC public charging station, full 0 to 100 percent charging times range from about 12.5 hours (7.2 kW) to as little as 8 hours (11 kW), depending on the equipment used.
The Pro’s exterior attributes include LED headlights and daytime running lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, black roof rails, remote keyless access with proximity unlocking, and 19-inch machined alloy wheels. Inside, it has cloth-upholstered seats with leatherette bolsters, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel wrapped in leatherette, dual-zone climate control, ambient interior lighting, wireless charging, and four USB ports (two front/two rear). The AWD Pro expands to 20-inch two-tone machined alloy wheels and adds LED taillights. Note that every ID.4 with AWD also gets a heated windshield and trailer hitch.
The Pro S and AWD Pro S are given a panoramic fixed-glass roof, illuminated logos and accents, a power rear liftgate with hands-free opening, V-Tex leatherette upholstery, 30-color ambient lighting, and heated/ventilated 12-way power-adjustable front seats with memory and massage. The AWD Pro S Plus tops the lineup with 21-inch diamond-turned wheels, silver roof rails and accents, Climatronic Touch tri-zone climate control, heated second-row seats, and puddle lights on the side mirrors.
The ‘25 ID.4 lineup is well equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies, emphasizing convenience, awareness, and prevention. All trims come standard with Light Assist (automatic high beams), adaptive cruise control, dynamic road sign display, Park Assist Plus with Memory Parking and park distance control (rear), lane change assist with side assist, travel assist, lane assist, emergency assist, and Front Assist, which includes forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian/cyclist monitoring. On the AWD Pro S Plus, drivers will have even more situational awareness thanks to the rearview camera system with Area View, providing a 360-degree overhead perspective during parking or low-speed navigation.
The universal connectivity tech for the ‘25 ID.4 lineup consists of a 12.9-inch color touchscreen with built-in navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM with 360L (3-month trial), App-Connect supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the ID.Light system, which provides ambient visual cues for voice command actions. Every trim also has myVW and VW Car-Net, allowing drivers to remotely manage charging, climate control, and door locks as well as access vehicle health reports, route planning, and locations of charging stations. The lone multimedia upgrade is for the AWD Pro S Plus, which gets a Harman Kardon premium audio system with center speaker and subwoofer versus the unbranded sound system on the other trims.
