Volkswagen Recalls

What is a Vehicle Recall?

Sometimes, Volkswagen or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will determine that a vehicle model has a safety defect or is somehow not in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Once this is determined, will Volkswagen immediately send a recall letter to all registered owners of the affected model(s) and typically offer a cost-free repair. While a vehicle recall does not necessarily mean that continuing to drive your vehicle will put you in immediate danger, it is still recommended that you get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

What to Do After Receiving a Recall Letter

Your recall notice will include instructions for you to call your local Volkswagen dealership to book a repair appointment. You may also be able to book an appointment online if that is more convenient. If you are unsure of a recall on your vehicle, you can view all current recalls on the NHTSA’S website, as well as Volkswagen’s recall directory.
