Volkswagen Atlas Maintenance Schedule
Following the maintenance schedule laid out by Volkswagen is the best thing you can do for the longevity and continued excellent performance of your Atlas. The good news is that it’s easy to keep track of: these services are recommended at each interval of 10,000 miles on the odometer. These 10,000-mile services are the most basic – consisting of an oil/oil filter change, tire rotation, and visual inspection – with the more major ones occurring at longer intervals, generally every few years.

10,000-Mile Intervals
As your Atlas gets close to this point, it’s time to schedule your first engine oil and filter change. The factory-trained Volkswagen technicians will also do a visual inspection of your vehicle’s major components to check for any signs of a developing issue. This level of scheduled maintenance will be repeated for each 10,000 miles your Atlas reaches, with a few more services added at certain odometer milestones (as outlined below).
20,000-, 40,000-, and 60,000-Mile Intervals
At each interval of 20,000 miles, your VW Atlas should get a more thorough inspection (tires, brakes and their components, battery, exhaust system, suspension, and coolant system). There will likely be a few replacements taking place here as well, including the air and dust/pollen filters. The VW technician may take the Atlas out for a road test during these service visits, especially if you report any new sounds or other signs of an issue.
80,000-Mile Intervals
Although this milestone is far in the future of your Atlas, it’s good to note that at 80,000 miles it may need its spark plugs replaced along with a change of the transmission fluid. By keeping up with the regular interval schedule, you’ll give your Atlas what it needs for many years of adventures.
