Front wiper blades only. Maximize your visibility & safety by getting the right blades for your vehicle. Blades are custom fit to clear maximum area and built with quality materials for a long life.
Replacing a car’s windshield wiper blades isn’t a difficult job for a trained technician, although it can be tricky for the layman who isn’t used to changing them on a regular basis. Usually, it’s part of a routine service check or multi-point inspection, unless something out of the ordinary happened to damage a blade. The primary consideration is finding the right length of the blade to fit the car and is especially important with some makes and models in which the two wipers aren’t the same length. The second consideration is the type of blade to use, whether standard, flat, or hybrid. Standard blades can be upgraded for cosmetic purposes or for better quality blades in areas with severe weather, but if the car came with flat blades, they can’t typically be replaced with traditional styles.
Wiper blades have to be made of fairly soft rubber in order to clear water from the windshield without causing scratches. As such, it weathers over time. Wipers can also be damaged by ice, leaves, or road debris, which they also clear from the windshield. In a dry area, the wipers can become sun-baked and brittle over time. Rubber simply wears down and has to be replaced, so wiper blades are designed to be relatively inexpensive compared to the expense of the car purchase and maintenance with the expectation they’re going to be replaced at regular intervals.
When wiper blades aren’t working properly, they won’t effectively wipe and clean the windshield, which is a safety concern as it impedes visibility. It’s one thing to realize new blades are needed on a rainy day and wait until the weather clears to have new ones installed. It’s a different story to know the blades are bad but ignore the problem until the driver cannot see when it rains. Ultimately, they’re going to have to be replaced anyway when it comes time for a safety inspection for registration purposes. So the driver isn’t saving money by postponing the procedure. However, you can make the road more dangerous for other drivers while driving with overused windshield wipers.
