2021 Volkswagen Arteon for Sale in West Warwick, RI
As young as the Volkswagen Arteon is (it debuted in 2019), it’s already sporting some significant changes inside and out. The sleek fastback sedan is back for model year 2021 with some updated technology and aesthetic updates, starting with a new light bar in the grille surrounds the modernized Volkswagen logo, making the Arteon the first model to wear this revised insignia. Inside, the dashboard now flaunts VW’s state-of-the-art customizable Digital Cockpit and updated Discover Media touchscreen infotainment system. The center console and door trim have been overhauled as well with upgraded fabrics and leather accents. Ambient interior lighting with 30 different color schemes, aluminum trim, simulated-leather, and premium stitching also lend more elegance.
Trims and Powertrain
The Volkswagen Arteon represents a vehicle class that may not be in the forefront but is still very much appreciated: the well-appointed midsized sedan. Its slick, fastback-style shape sets it aside from the rest of its segment, and it’s also the first VW to wear the brand’s updated logo, which is emphasized by an eye-catching light bar that surrounds it. Now in its third model year, the Arteon has more standard features than ever, including VW’s futuristic Digital Cockpit and revised Discover Media infotainment system.
The three Arteon trim levels – SE, SEL R-Line, and SEL R-Line Premium – have the same powertrain, a 268-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4Motion all-wheel drive system can be ordered on the SEL R-Line, but the SEL Premium R-Line gets it standard. The EPA has determined its fuel economy rating to be 22 mpg around town and 32 mpg on the highway with FWD, and 20 mpg city/31 mpg highway with 4Motion AWD.
The Arteon is an upscale car, and as such, its base trim has plenty of sought-after features. The highlights are LED headlights (automatic on/off) and taillights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, keyless entry/ignition, heated exterior mirrors (with auto-dimming on the driver’s side), and 18-inch wheels. The cabin is plush and comfortable, with leatherette seating (heated and power-adjustable in the front row), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless-steel pedals, tri-zone auto climate control, and the customizable VW Digital Cockpit.
The aforementioned Discover Media infotainment system combines communication features (Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and VW App-Connect, with multi-phone pairing) with entertainment (high-def radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a sound system). Users can control it by voice recognition or the 8-inch touchscreen. On the active safety front, the SE gets forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.
In the middle of the pack the SEL R-Line moves up to 19-inch wheels and premium Nappa leather seats. Its look changes a bit with some trim-specific badging and special R-Line bumpers. Other standard additions are power-folding exterior mirrors, adaptive headlights, a panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a wireless smartphone charger, and remote start. While the infotainment system stays the same, the SEL R-Line’s slate of driver-assist technology increases with automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic road sign display.
SEL Premium R-Line
At the top of the hierarchy, the SEL Premium R-Line is properly loaded – its driver’s seat even has a massaging function. The wheels increase to 20 inches, a hands-free trunk lid is added, and the front seats gain ventilation while the rear outboard seats are heated. This supreme version of the Arteon also gets a top-shelf Harman/Kardon sound system with a dozen speakers and pre-set listening settings (Pure, Chill Out, Live, and Energy). An automatic parking feature and a surround-view monitor complete this trim’s truly outstanding driver-assist technology suite.
