The 2025 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is available in five trims: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, the new SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on the SE and SE with Technology, with all-wheel drive (AWD) optional; AWD is standard on the three highest trims. All Atlas Cross Sport models are powered by a 269-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic (paddle shifters).
The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the Atlas Cross Sport with FWD is 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway; AWD variants achieve 19 mpg around town and 26 mpg on the open road. When they’re properly equipped, most trims can tow up to 5,000 pounds (2,000 pounds for the SE trim). With the rear seats folded flat, there’s a potential 77.6 cubic feet of cargo space (40.3 cubic feet of storage with the back row in use).
The SE is a well-outfitted base trim, getting heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, V-Tex (leatherette) upholstery, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar controls, a 10.25-inch configurable digital instrument display, heated power side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, multiple fast-charging USB ports, wireless device charging, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SE with Technology is upgraded with remote start, a hands-free liftgate, an illuminated light bar and emblem (front and rear), a trailer hitch, a 115-volt AC outlet (in the second row), and 20-inch alloy wheels. A panoramic sunroof is available.
The SEL gets the panoramic sunroof along with a head-up display, leather upholstery, a driver’s memory system, an eight-way power front passenger seat, heated second-row outboard seats, ambient cabin lighting, and heated headlight washers. The debuting SEL R-Line Black features unique exterior and interior styling treatments, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless-steel pedal caps, and 20-inch black-finish alloy wheels. The top-of-the-line SEL Premium R-Line takes things even more upscale with perforated Vienna leather, massaging front seats, heated power side mirrors with a power-fold, R-Line (non-black) exterior styling, and 21-inch alloy wheels.
VW’s IQ.Drive suite is installed on every 2025 Atlas Cross Sport. This standard driver-assist package consists of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian detection), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, Travel Assist (semi-autonomous hands-on driving assistance), adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist (semi-automated aid in a medical emergency), and exit warning. Front and rear parking sensors are included on all but the base trim; the SEL and higher get automatic high beams and road sign display. A surround-view monitor and semi-automatic parking support are standard on the SEL Premium R-Line. All trims have a full array of airbags plus anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, and a rearview monitor.
All trims get a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This platform manages Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Access to myVW connected services and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also standard. Navigation is included on the SEL and above. While most trims have a six-speaker audio system, the SEL Premium R-Line gets a Harman Kardon upgrade.
