Volkswagen plans to offer three ID. Buzz trims: Pro S, Pro S Plus, and the launch-only 1st Edition. A 91-kWh battery is slated to power all of them. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a single electric motor making 282 horsepower should be standard, while the Pro S Plus and 1st Edition can be upgraded to all-wheel drive (AWD) via a dual-motor (one per axle) configuration producing a combined 335 horsepower. Information about range and charging capacity will be provided at a later date.
The core Pro S trim will feature a second-row bench seat, giving this ID. Buzz edition a seven-passenger seating capacity. The Pro S Plus or 1st Edition with RWD will also have a standard bench seat. In the Pro S Plus, this will be upgradeable to a captain’s chair package with total seating for six. Captain’s chairs are expected to come standard with the AWD-equipped Pro S Plus and 1st Edition.
Here’s a partial list of what will be standard and available with the 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz. All ID. Buzz trims will have dual power-sliding side doors for easy access to both rear rows. VW also includes power sliding side windows, a modern take on the original Microbus approach. Other equipment worth mentioning includes leatherette seating, a power tailgate, proximity keyless entry, a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 30-color ambient cabin lighting, wireless device charging, and 20-inch wheels.
In addition to standard premium features like a head-up display, the Pro S Plus will be eligible for Flexboard, a storage system that creates a flat floor when the seats are folded. Other options are said to include a retractable tow hitch that hides behind the rear bumper when it’s not in use and an electrochromic panoramic glass roof with transparency controls. The 1st Edition will expand on the Pro S trim with a two-tone exterior, an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, the Flexboard storage system, trim-specific interior treatments, 1st Edition exterior badging, and exclusive 1st Edition owner’s gifts.
Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE advanced driver assistance technology will be installed across the full ID. Buzz range. This system will contain collision mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. In addition, all ID. Buzz trims will get hands-on, semi-autonomous driving capabilities with driver-initiated lane changes and Park Assist Plus (semi-autonomous parking support). The Pro S Plus and 1st Edition will also get a surround-view monitor.
Infotainment for the ID. Buzz will be channeled through a 12.9-inch display that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The Pro S Plus and 1st Edition will get a 700-watt Harman Kardon audio system with 14 speakers. More details about the ID. Buzz’s infotainment system should be revealed in the near future.
