Five trim levels form the ’24 Atlas Cross Sport lineup: SE, SE w/Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium R-Line. A brand-new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine supplies the power for all; it puts out 269 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque and works with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The SE and SE w/Technology have standard front-wheel drive but are eligible for all-wheel drive, which comes standard in the other three trims. According to the official EPA estimates, the ’24 Atlas Cross Sport with FWD returns 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway; with AWD, it’ll give you 19 city/26 highway.
Although it’s the base trim, the SE is outfitted with numerous refined features, such as heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive LED headlights, wireless phone charging, and a new 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. On top of that, it has heated side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, roof rails, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, four USB-C charging ports, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and synthetic-leather upholstery encompassing the seats and steering wheel. The SE w/ Technology upgrades its looks with a distinctive exterior light bar while also adding a hands-free liftgate, a 115V power outlet, remote start, and a trailer hitch that enables 5,000 pounds of towing capacity.
In the middle of the pack, the SEL’s extras include genuine leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, driver’s seat position memory, heated outboard second-row seats, heated washer nozzles, side mirrors with position memory and passenger-side auto tilt-down, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and multicolor ambient interior lighting. The SEL R-Line displays sportier looks and receives a heated leather-wrapped sport steering wheel. Sitting at the top of the range, the SEL Premium R-Line provides a truly plush ride with perforated Vienna leather upholstery and power-folding side mirrors.
For the 2024 model year, the IQ.Drive safety system is standard in the Atlas Cross Sport. It provides an array of vital driver-assistance technologies like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian/cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitoring, lane-keeping assist, lane change assist, and automatic high beams. Front and rear parking sensors are issued in the SE w/Technology on up, while the SEL and higher grades receive a dynamic road sign display. The SEL Premium R-Line augments safety and driver convenience with an automatic parking system and an overhead camera.
All trims get a new 12-inch “floating” touchscreen that integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a multi-speaker sound system. The SEL and SEL Premium R-Line are upgraded, though, to the Discover Pro multimedia system featuring navigation. As the top-of-the-line Atlas Cross Sport, the SEL Premium R-Line alone gets a deluxe Harman Kardon audio system.
