Trims and Powertrains

Volkswagen offers the 2024 ID.4 in six trim grades: Standard, Pro, AWD Pro, S, Pro S, and AWD Pro S. The Standard trim has a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup with a 150-kW electric motor (201 horsepower) and DC fast charging up to 100 kW. The Pro and Pro S trims also have RWD but come with a more powerful 210 kW electric motor generating 282 horsepower and higher-capacity DC fast charging (175 to 200 kW). The AWD Pro and AWD Pro S trims offer all-wheel drive (AWD) with dual electric motors totaling 250 kW and delivering a combined 335 horsepower. The S trim is equipped with RWD and a 210-kW electric motor that makes 282 horsepower.

The range and efficiency vary depending on the trim and battery size. The ID.4 Standard and ID.4 S, equipped with a 62-kWh battery, provide an EPA-estimated range of 206 miles and fuel economy ratings of 115 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) in city driving and 98 MPGe on the highway. The ID.4 Pro and Pro S, which have an 82-kWh battery, offer 291 miles of range and MPGe ratings of 122 city/104 highway. The all-wheel-drive variants, ID.4 AWD Pro and AWD Pro S, also use the 82-kWh battery but have a slightly lower range (263 miles) and MPGe ratings of 108 around town and 96 on the open road.

As far as charging times, the ID.4 Standard and S with the 62-kWh battery can be fully charged in approximately 6.25 hours using a Level 2 (240-volt) home or public charger, while Level 3/DC fast charging at 140 kW can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes. The ID.4 Pro, AWD Pro, Pro S, and AWD Pro S, which all have the 82 kWh battery, require about 8 hours for a full charge using a Level 2 charger. These trims also support 175 kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.
