New Volkswagen 2019 Passat Trims for Sale in West Warwick, RI
The Volkswagen Passat is a comfortable, well-equipped sedan that’s popular with a full range of buyers, from single commuters to road-tripping families. This four-door is spacious in both passenger volume and trunk space. Its turbocharged four-cylinder engine is paired with a six-speed Tiptronic transmission, a combination that provides both zip and good fuel economy – it’s rated by the EPA to achieve 25 mpg around town and 36 mpg on the highway. That turbo four is now the only engine available for VW’s midsized offering, as the 3.6-liter V6 has been discontinued.
Another big change from previous model years is that VW decided to keep things simple this time around by dividing the ’19 Passat into a mere two trims, the base Wolfsburg and the more loaded SE R-Line (by contrast, the 2018 Passat had seven trims). The Wolfsburg comes with an impressive slate of creature comforts and technologies. The SE R-Line, which combines the SE and R-Line trims of previous years, presents a sportier look and equipment package to satisfy drivers who seek those qualities, plus a few bonus features.
The Wolfsburg Trim
The list of standard equipment on the lower-level Passat is anything but basic. It uses the name Wolfsburg, which was previously given to special-edition VWs, to reflect the sophistication of this base package. That list of very nice standard amenities includes heated front leatherette seats, heated side mirrors, a backup camera, Bluetooth capability, an information/entertainment system with a 6.3-inch touchscreen and SD card reader, a blind-spot monitor, and electronic stability control. There is one USB data port in the front and two charging USB ports in the back row. The optional Sunroof and Wheels Package can be added to gain a power tilt/slide sunroof, 18-inch spoke-style wheels, and lighted vanity mirrors.
The SE R-Line Trim
The superior ’19 Passat trim, the SE R-Line, changes its look a bit while loading up on bells and whistles with remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hands-free smart trunk, a rear sport valance, an upgraded audio system by Fender, and integrated navigation. For aesthetics, this trim adds R-Line-specific sport bumpers, side skirts, and badging on the outside, plus carbon-fiber trim and ambient interior lighting with changeable colors in the cockpit. In the active safety technology category, the trim adds adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and park distance control.
All Passats are constructed with a crash-optimized front end (buckle zones), a full complement of air bags, and front seat belts that are adjustable to fit the height of the passenger. No matter which trim you choose, the ’19 VW Passat is covered by Volkswagen’s excellent (and fully transferable) People First Warranty, for 6 years/72,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage.
